Festive listening: Besa’s Christmas album “Ti Je Festa Ime”
The Albanian star’s holiday collection of carols and standards, sung in Albanian, is a seasonal favourite.
As the festive season comes round again, one seasonal record worth putting on is Besa’s Christmas album “Ti Je Festa Ime” (“You Are My Celebration”) — a warm, Albanian-language collection of carols and holiday standards.
Across the album Besa turns her R&B-tinged voice to festive classics, with Albanian renditions of songs such as “White Christmas”, “O Holy Night”, “Silent Night” and “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town” sitting alongside her own material. It has become a December staple in Albanian-speaking households, from Tirana to the diaspora cities of Europe.
