Early life and musical background
Rita Sahatciu Ora was born on 26 November 1990 in Pristina, in what was then Yugoslavia and is now Kosovo, to Kosovo-Albanian parents. While she was still an infant her family left to escape the persecution of ethnic Albanians and settled in London, where she was raised in the west of the city and began performing as a child.
Career breakthrough
Ora signed to Jay-Z's Roc Nation and broke through in 2012 as the featured vocalist on DJ Fresh's UK number-one single 'Hot Right Now'. Her own singles 'R.I.P.' and 'How We Do (Party)' followed, both topping the UK chart, and her debut album 'Ora' entered at number one in the United Kingdom.

She works chiefly in pop and dance-pop, with R&B and electronic influences, and is known for big radio hooks and a bold visual identity.
